Collaborative LibrarianshipPublication of Volume 5, Issue 3 (2013)

Collaborative Librarianship welcomes to its editorial team four new members: Samantha Hines (University of Montana) to edit scholarly articles; Brenda Bailey-Hainer (Executive Director, American Theological Library Association, Chicago) as lead editor of “From the Field”; Ann Abate (Library Discount Network, Ohio) and Lisa Priebe (Colorado Library Consortium, England) both assigned copy editing.

October 23, 2013 – (Denver CO) – The open access journal, Collaborative Librarianship, (eISSN: 1943-7528) has published the 3rd issue of Volume 5.  Co-General Editor, Valerie Horton, in the editorial introduction, provides a brief overview of consortia development in the United States and offers a prospectus.  Scholarly articles address aspects of collaboration related to library assessment, scholarly communication and university archives.  Two “From the Field” articles deal with public – academic library collaborations and with promotional processes for academic librarians.  “Technology Matters” discusses RFIDs, GPS and 3G radio wave technology in relation to privacy issues.  Using a metaphor from the martial arts, an opinion piece argues for deeper library collaboration.  Two reviews round out this issue: one of a recent ACRL document on collaboration and another of Managing Research Data.

Collaborative Librarianship: Call for Papers and Reviews – Does your library collaborate with another library in your community?  Are you involved in some interesting, innovative or experimental aspect of library collaboration?  Does your library explore or implement resources or services that build on, promote, or expand the scope of library collaboration?  Are you reflecting on the methodology, theory or philosophy of why and how librarians, libraries or library consortia work together?  If so, we would like to hear from you!  Please consider submitting articles for “peer review” or “From the Field” sections of the journal.  Submissions can be made directly through the CL website. Issues will be published in March, June, September and December each year, and deadlines for submissions are 4 months in advance of publication.
