“As I write this, there is a fire burning in Northern Colorado, just west of Fort Collins. As of the latest update, the High Park fire has burned 36,000 acres and is 0% contained. Hundreds of homes have been evacuated, and displaced families (and animals) are setting up camp at an evacuation center while they wait to hear if their homes survive the fire.
What does this have to do with Public Computer Centers, you might be wondering? The Poudre River Public Library District (PRPLD) has set up shop at the evacuation center with one of their mobile labs, providing Internet access for evacuees. The mobile lab was set up last night by Outreach Manager Irene Romsa, and will be operating 12 hours a day. In addition to computers, they also took books and crafts for children, and will be providing storytimes.”
