Excerpt: “Last Friday, Harvard and MIT libraries announced a broad collaborative vision that would greatly exceed the existing joint efforts already in place between the two institutions. The announcement describes a four-tiered plan, with new efforts devoted to joint collective licensing of electronic serials and resources, exploration of “alternative, open access forms of publication,” and expanding the schools’ digital preservation and repository capabilities.”
